Frequently Asked Questions
What is a core charge?
A core is a rebuildable part that allows you compensation for a
portion of the original price of the item. It actually means “cash on
return.” You will get your deposit back when we or the intended
manufacturer receives your core. To get credit for a core, it must be
the same model and part number as the new part that was purchased. The
core cannot be broken or damaged beyond repair such that it could not be
rebuilt. Cores must also be shipped back to the intended recipient
within 30 days to receive your refund. If you are unsure if your core
meets these requirements, please contact us before you place an order.
If you are not sure where to send your core, please contact us for
details.
Where can I find out what oil and additives to use in my truck?
The Amsoil website can help you here. You can search for your particular truck to see what and how much is recommended.
What is the best programmer for my truck?
It is impossible to answer this question without the intended result
in mind. You must decide if you what more power to towing, better fuel
mileage, or if you want to use it in conjunction with another upgrade to
achieve a certain result. Once you determine your goal, it is possible
to narrow your choices as some units are developed with particular
objectives in mind
How do I know if I have a 04 or 04.5 dodge?
If your vehicle was made in 2004 you will have a 04.5 truck. Simply
look at the production date located on the door jamb. Another way to
find out is by checking the tag on the side of the engine head. This tag
will tell you 325/315 hp or 600/610 lb ft of torque. If it states any
of those numbers you have a 04.5 HO (high output) truck.
Why do I need to change my stock exhaust?
You should change your exhaust before and/or with any other upgrade.
An aftermarket exhaust helps to eliminate restrictions in air flow due
to factory exhaust design. You will see increased throttle response,
lower EGT’s, and better fuel mileage. Mandrel bent exhausts are the best
way to go because they are bent with the intention of eliminating all
restrictions in the exhaust. They are also a consistent diameter
throughout the system.
Which exhaust should I chose, a 4in or 5in?
Most people chose 5in over 4in because of the sound. Some trucks do
see better results from a 5in system such as the 04.5 and later Dodge
trucks. These trucks already have 4in systems and see better fuel
mileage, lower EGT’s, etc. from a 5in system. You can also get a tip
with either system. This helps the look of the overall system as well.
What about package deal pricing?
If you do not see the parts that you want offered as a package,
please contact us with the products you do want as a package deal. We
can compare pricing and shipping and make a deal to save you some money!
Where can I find the build date on my truck?
You will find the build date of your truck on driver’s side door jamb.
Why do I need an aftermarket intake system?
An air intake system increases the amount of cold air that flows into
your engine. We know that installing an aftermarket intake on your truck
is going to give you performance gains and those gains can and will
give you better fuel efficiency. They generally offer larger diameter
inlet tubes that are smoother and allow air to move into your engine
faster and with more volume. They also feature reusable filters that are
a larger, conical design and facilitate increased airflow.
Will I have to weld my new exhaust together?
No. All of the aftermarket systems we carry are designed to be direct
bolt on with common hand tools in your driveway. In some cases the stock
system will have to be cut to get it out from under the truck but
that’s it.
How long will it take to install my exhaust?
Average install time on a single turbo back exhaust is about 1-2 hrs.
A cat-back single system usually is about .5-1 hr. A dual exhaust
usually takes a bit longer, typically around 2-3hrs. All of which can be
done with common hand tools.
What is the difference between a programmer, tuner, and chip?
The biggest difference is that a programmer and or tuner installs
inside your truck via the OBD port. A programmer and a tuner will alter
the stock program of your truck by installing a new program. A chip
and/or module will either be installed under the hood of your truck or
inside the truck by directly hooking to the ECU.
What is an RMA number?
A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number is basically an
access number sent by the manufacturer after the approval of an item for
return. We cannot process your return or any return fees without a
valid RMA number and thus you will not receive credit for the return.
Why didn't my card work at checkout?
Most of the time when your card is declined it is due to what called
an "AVS mismatch" which means that the billing address on the card
account does not match the billing address that you entered. The
addresses must match for the transaction to be successful. Your card is
only charged when you receive confirmation of a successful transaction.
Can I purchase insurance on the product I order even if it isn't an option online?
Contact us if you want to insure a package (UPS automatically insures packages for $100).
If the product I ordered was damaged during shipping, can I get a refund?
There is no clear answer for this question; it depends on each
individual case and what is wrong with the product. If you see a product
is damaged upon arrival then we can help you to get UPS involved in
covering the damages. You cannot remove the product from the box if you
see it is damaged! Contact us immediately if you see that the product
has been damaged due to shipping and handling. If you install the
product or wait an extended period of time, we cannot help to resolve
the situation.
